Did you know? Nails have more importance in our body than just aesthetic value. More often than not, our nails signify our underlying health conditions! Here are 5 most common warning signs when it comes to nails.
Look out for the signs before it’s too late and treat your shiny bits.
1. Yellow nails
Yellow nails signify thyroid problems, diabetes, psoriasis or a respiratory disease! Smoking can lead to your nails getting a yellowish colour. If you have yellow nails, it could also be a sign of fungal infection.
2. Cracked, Dry or Brittle Nails:
If your nails are exposed to chemicals in cleaning products or if you live in a region with low humidity, your nails are more likely to be cracked, dry and brittle.
Cracked and brittle nails can also be a sign of a deficiency of Vitamins A, B, and C in your body.
3. Clubbed nails:
If your fingertips are enlarged and your nails curve downward, then you have clubbed nails. Such nails can be a sign of low levels of oxygen in your blood or can be related to a liver or kidney disease.
4. Nails with Horizontal white lines:
This may occur due to psoriasis, uncontrolled diabetes, or zinc deficiency. It can also occur due to serious conditions such as leprosy or carbon monoxide poisoning.
5. Spoon Nails
Nails that curve upwards, are caused due to iron deficiency (anaemia), heart disease or excessive iron absorption in the body!
It is extremely important to take care of your nail health. How do you do that?
