Skin Care After Removing the Makeup

You wake up every day with a plan to look your best self to present yourself to the world. You put in a lot of effort and you finally get the best look that you’ve worked so hard for. After a day of work, socializing and exhaustion, you head back home and now you just want to relax. But wait, it’s great that your body and mind get to relax, but does your skin get to do the same?

Let’s magnify the issue here. Your skin has been packed with a number of makeup and cosmetic products for over 9 hours now and all your skin needs is a lot of oxygen and deep cleansing. If you do not take care of your skin post a long day of wearing makeup, it can cost your skin and your health a whole lot in the long run.

Let’s start with some basics and understand how to take care of your skin once you have come home and are removing the makeup. When we can’t afford any makeup salons and makeup services, this is something that we can do at the comfort of our home.

1.Use a Makeup Remover: Oil based makeup removers seem to give you faster results with less stroking/wiping. Take a micro-fibre cloth or a cotton pad. Dab on some makeup remover on the pad or cloth and start wiping on the face gently. The aim here is to remove all the visible traces of makeup from your face.

2.Oil up Your skin: Once you’re done with the makeup remover and before you convince yourself that the remover has done its job, give yourself a second. You have only removed the visible part of the makeup from your face and remember that your pores do soak up some product throughout the day. So, it’s important to disturb the clogged pores with some mild oil. Take a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil on a clean cotton pad and start dabbing on your skin. Do not wipe. Just dab. Once you see that the oil is sitting on your skin, just let it be so for a few seconds. The aim here is to remove the dust, product and other miscellaneous particles right from your pores.

3.Use a Cleanser: Once you are done waiting for about a minute after applying the oil on your face, it’s important that you wipe it off with a micro-fibre cloth or a tissue paper. You’ll see that there’s more makeup oozing out of your skin once you start wiping gently. After this, it’s time to play with some water. Splash good amount of lukewarm or water at room-temperature on your face and keep repeating this process, a few more times. Take a non-clogging cleanser and gently massage the gel all over your face. Wash off the cleanser and you can see your skin glowing and looking much fresher than before.

4.Moisturize: While, we know that we did everything we can to prevent the damage, it’s time to take care of the skin by not leaving it dry and patchy. Apply some coconut oil or olive oil or just any moisturizer or night cream to your face before you go to bed and you’re good to go. Your fresh skin will actually soak up the product now and will work with your skin and will give you your “sleeping beauty” results in the morning.

It’s never too late to change your routine for a better and brighter skin.
